Hiroshi Yoshida Japan, 1876-19. Hiroshi was a leading figure in the “shin hanga” movement. He was a master of richly detailed landscapes. The print signed lower right. This print measures approx. Yoshida is the forefather of the shin hanga printing movement in the 1920’s-1960’s. This woodblock print is titled, “In a Temple Yard, ” and depicts three women carrying their children in a lovely temple yard. It is from Yoshida’s series, Eight Scenes of Cherry Blossoms. This print is block-signed by Yoshida at lower right and titled at lower left. It comes matted and framed. His work is featured in numerous museums, including the Japanese National Museum in Tokyo. If you collect woodblock prints, Yoshida’s works are a must-have. Condition: The print is in very good condition, with some minor toning. Measurements: Print measures approximately 15 inches high x 10 inches wide (sight), but likely measures 15.5 x 10.75 under the mat. Frame measures approximately 22.25 inches high x 17 inches wide. If the item is not paid for within this time frame, an unpaid item case will be opened. More pictures available on request.
