Description: This is a later edition, traditionally hand-printed from re-carved woodblocks. It is not an original Edo-period print, but an authentic hand-printed woodblock print, produced using traditional Ukiyo-e techniques on Japanese washi paper. The visible pigment bleed-through on the reverse is a natural result of traditional hand-printing and a characteristic of authentic woodblock prints. We sell only authentic traditional Japanese hand-printed woodblock prints, including later re-carved or later edition works. We do not handle modern machine-made prints, offset prints, or modern printed copies of any kind. Vintage Japanese Print Kintaro and Yamauba. Image originally found as Kitagawa Utamaro in regular woodblock print. This is very thin and translucent black and white washi lightly adhered to art board. See last 2 images where I lifted it carefully. Does not seem like a regular woodblock. Same image as Utamaro but in black and white. The 3 mountain symbol is the same as Utamaro–I assume the title. Matted 23″ x 29 1/2″ – Actual paper size 18 1/2″ x 24 1/4″. Anyone that can shed some light on this for me would be appreciated.

Antique Japanese Woodblock Print Beauties on Beach by Kitagawa Fujimaro c. Presented is a beautiful Japanese full oban-size woodblock print created by the renowned artist of the late Edo period, Kitagawa Fujimaro c. He is known as a late follower of the famous artist Kitagawa Utamaro. Though little is known about his life, he specialized in painting beautiful women (bijin-ga), developing a distinct style with slender faces and expressive eyes, often depicting courtesans and scenes of daily life, with his works found in major museums like the Tokyo National Museum and British Museum. The print was made using the Japanese woodblock technique and hand-colored. The print is backed on a paper so it’s hard to tell when exactly it was printed. However, the hand-coloring suggests it could be Fujimaro’s life time printing. AUTHOR: Kitagawa Fujimaro TITLE: “Three Ladies on a Beach” or “Beauties of Fitamiura” CREATED: c. 1820s – 1830s PAPER. Paper METHOD OF PRINTING: Woodblock printing PRINTED: Unknown OVERALL FRAME SIZE: 23.5″ by 15.25″ PRINT SIZE: 15.75″ X 8″. The condition is very good. There is some even darkening of the paper, no foxing, no loses. The margins are trimmed nd the print is backed on a thick paper. Set Of 3 Japanese Kitagawa Utamaro Woodblock Prints Framed Abalone Diver VGC. Here we have a set of three wood block prints by utamaro. They are all wonderfully framed and what looks to be 1970 frames. I did remove one of the prints from the frame to see what kind of information I would be able to determine from the print itself. I found the particular print with no further markings or notations. However what I did find is that these wood block prints are linen backed. And they are loosely adhered to the bamboo paper matte. The prints measure 16 inches high and 10 in wide. The wood frames measure 20 inches high and 14 in wide. The frames themselves are in good condition. Ready to be displayed as is. I believe that these are a post 1940 woodblock print set but I could be wrong please take a look at the pictures as they could be earlier.
