A Snowy Day of Five-storied Pagoda in Ueno. Technique: Japanese woodblock print. 40 × 27 cm (15.75 × 10.63 inches). We sell only authentic traditional Japanese hand-printed woodblock prints, including later re-carved or later edition works. We do not handle modern machine-made prints, offset prints, or modern printed copies of any kind. All prints in our store are genuine te-zuri (hand-printed) woodblock prints, carefully hand-printed by skilled Japanese artisans using traditional Ukiyo-e techniques on authentic Japanese washi paper. The visible pigment bleed-through on the reverse side is a natural characteristic of hand printing and a clear sign that this is not a reproduction or machine-made print. This design was originally published in 1942 by the Yoshida Hanga Studio. We are offering a posthumously printed image, made from the original blocks, and acquired directly from the Yoshida family. While it is signed in the block, it still looks like it is pencil signed to an untrained eye. To avoid any misunderstanding, the Yoshida Hanga Studio also included the seal of the printer on the reverse. The image measures 9 1/2 x 6 3/4 inches, plus full margins. The condition is excellent. Up until his father passed away in 1950, Toshi Yoshida primarily produced works that were reminiscent of his father’s landscape prints. His later works include a wide assortment of subjects, styles and techniques. Don’t settle for a giclee or other mechanical reproduction. These woodblock prints are made using the same printing process as the original pencil signed run, under the supervision of the artist’s family and meeting their exacting standards.

Up for sale is this Vintage Benji Asada Woodblock Print. This is the Pagoda of Ninnaji Temple Cherry Trees of Omuro in Kyoto Japan. Paper measures 15 3/4″ X 10.5″. The soft pink cherry blossoms in the foreground stand in stark contrast to the imposing dark pagoda in the distance. Ninnaji Temple, the head temple of the Omuro school of the Shingon Sect of Buddhism, is located in western Kyoto. Established in 888 AD by the retired Emperor Uda, it is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This piece was from my mother-in-laws husband’s mother’s collection- who lived in Japan with her husband in the 1950s. In good condition but it does have some wear from not ever being framed over the years. It is taped lightly with one piece of tape to a thin posterboard type material. The piece is about 13.5″ tall by 3″ wide — not including the white posterboard material it is taped to. Please see photos for details.

“The Pagoda at Ninnaji Temple, 1947″. The collectors guild, LTD, certifies and warrants that this is an original wood black print, pulled at the Uchida Atelier in Kyoto Japan. The Japanese characters on the print are the artists signature and his descriptive title. The scene is a tranquil view of the pagoda amidst cherry blossoms. The print is in excellent condition, the white marks seen in the photos are from the glare of the glass. The print measures approximately 10″ x 14″, and framed is 16″ x 22″. Beautifully framed, it is ready for your wall or collection.
