This ukiyo-e, “Suehiro,” depicts the march of the 14th shogun Tokugawa Iemochi, who departed from Edo to Kamigata for the second Choshu expedition in 1865, by eight artists including Utagawa Hiroshige (the second). One of the fifty-three stages, this work depicts Hamamatsu. The artist was Utagawa Hiroshige (second generation), who was active from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji period.
