Original Woodblock Print Titled “Courtesan and Attendant”. The woodblock print image depicts an outdoor scene of a courtesan interacting with a young boy. Print is framed by an octagonal shaped matt and has a light beige background. Light crease to upper left and lower right. Not examined outside of frame. Artist’s signature on lower left. Wood frame measures w 13 in x h 13 in (image w 7.5 in x h 8 in). Totoya Hokkei (1780 – 1850) is known as one of Katsushika Hokusai’s most accomplished students. His works are featured in the Museum of Modern Art New York and the British Museum.
