This is a very rare antique Japanese Meiji Period Matsuki Heiyoshi Colored Woodblock Geisha signed and with labels in Japanese. Signed by the artist with a chop signed in red. Shows expected minimal wear, the craftsmanship and artwork are just as masterful as the woodblock’s color. The scene is described at the upper left side and describes in Japanese a geisha at a shuttlecock play in action. The label at the lower side is in Japanese and when translation says the dates of first issue, 1879, and the printer artist Matsuki Heiyoshi. Great condition for age, the woodblock was taken out from its protective frame. The colors are clear, some minimal creases at the upper left side, and straight wall ttear at the border upper middle that does not extend to the woodblock. Please check photos for further evaluation. Dimensions: 9″ x 12.4″ with the border, 7.2″ x 10 3/4″ w/o border.
