Up for sale a gorgeous print by well known Japanese artist L. Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita. After studying Western style painting in Japan, painter and printmaker Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita moved to Paris in his mid-twenties. His work was an instant success, and he became friends with the top modern artists in France at the time, including Picasso, Matisse, and Modigliani. A colorful, larger than life figure, Foujita is considered one of the most important Japanese artists of the 20th century. After returning to Japan in the 1930s, he designed a small number of woodblock portraits. Following WWII, he moved to France permanently, becoming a French citizen. His portraits of beautiful women combine elements of Japanese and Western painting, with delicate curving line work characteristic of traditional Japanese ink paintings.
