Q (British Officer’s Quarters) in Okinawa Japan. The woodblock print was framed at the Kanada’s Gallery in Okinawa Japan and has been sealed behind glass since 1926. (see pictures) The print has been pencil signed as well as signed in the traditional Japanese characters print. This print is rare as it was framed in the artist’s gallery in Okinawa Japan and has been sealed and kept out of sunlight ever since then. This is a very rare original and you can see the details in the block print close up. The beautiful colors overlap to create such a clear view of the sea and sailboats. Hiroshi Yoshida is a world renown artist who’s works are in the Smithsonian Museum. You may be able to find another original print but not one that has been this well preserved from his gallery in Okinawa. Description of this original Hiroshi Yoshida woodblock print below. The frame is a black wooden 36 x 24 3/4 inch frame with the woodblock print sealed behind glass with a hard green back on the frame with Kanada Gallery signature markings and information on the art. The frame does show some wear see pictures for details, but the print is sealed behind glass and is in excellent condition. The print has the Jizuri seal marked on the left side margin of the woodblock print which means the artist Hiroshi Yoshida printed this woodblock print himself and did not use a publisher to print this work of art as he did for a small run of prints prior to 1923 and then again after his death. Only prints of the highest quality were marked with the Jiruzi seal such as this print. There were copies made from some of Hiroshi Yoshida’s work made after his death in 1950’s and they do not have the Jiruzi seal because they are only copies. This woodblock print is signed by Hiroshi Yoshida in the lower right margin in pencil. Attached to the back of the sealed frame is a card with title and dimensions and year printed as: Hiroshi Yoshida (with Japanese characters of the artist’s name) The name of the Woodblock print “Glittering Sea” printed in 1926 with dimensions of 37.2x 24.7cm without frame and 41.0 x 27.0cm in the frame. Attached to the back of the sealed frame is a printout with information on Hiroshi Yoshida with the following information:One of the most famous representative artists of the woodblock print in the 20th century. He began his world travels with a trip to the United States in 1899, and continued to visit other countries. Yoshida’s woodblock prints were motivated by the scenes and people of the foreign countries as well as traditional Japanese scenes.
