Unsigned (typical of “Shunga”). Skillfully executed “bokashi” shading; light “gauffrage” (embossing) to kimonos and bodies; “burnishing” to black areas; crisp lines, highly detailed carving. Silver metallic pigments to background screen. Gold metallic “speckles” to outer surround. Private collection, California (acquired by family of American serviceman stationed in Tokyo, 1946-48). Rich colors, very fresh, no fading. A few scattered marks; slight wear; light toning. Loosely end-­tipped to original folio backing. Very highly detailed and colorful “Shunga” image of an amourous couple. From an album of 12 “deluxe” prints­­ found inside original silk-bound folio. Very clean for Shunga.
