Shiro Kasamatsu Original First Edition 1949 Tea Ceremony Japanese Woodblock
This beautiful Japanese woodblock print by Shiro Kasamatsu depicts a serene scene of a tea ceremony with a woman in traditional clothing. The intricate details, complimentary color compositions plus the delicate inclusion of embossing that gives a beautiful texture to and enhances the pattern of her robe make this piece a unique addition to any art collection. The print has the artists signature in the upper right hand corner of the image in addition to the carvers, printers and producers seals in the left hand margin confirming its authenticity as an original 1st addition printed in 1949. The print has been matted and framed using non-acidic conservation matting, making it a ready-to-display piece. The theme of the print revolves around the culture and ethnicity of Japan and its long dedicated history to the art of the tea ceremony. The production technique used was woodblock, and it was produced in 1949, and while there were many subsequent runs/editions of this piece in the years to follow this print was made during its early/first edition. This masterpiece is perfect for collectors of Japanese woodblocks as well as those interested in Japanese cultures and traditions, specifically that of the art of the tea ceremony. The print is in, from what I can see, amazing condition, I can find no discoloration, no fading, no staining, no matt-burn or tears or losses, it appears to be flawless. There was a lot of glaring in the pictures I took so If you have any questions or would like any additional pictures please don’t hesitate to ask.
