Utagawa Hiroshige 53 Stations of the Tokaido Book, 55 Original woodblock prints
These prints and the accordion book they are in were produced in the sometime before 1940 based on the outside material and gold fleck paper used on the inside. Each print is made with original design wood blocks on thick book binding paper. The prints are a mixture of first and second edition Hiroshige prints. These are 25cm x 36.5cm. The outside of the book shows it’s age and has shelf wear but the prints are in perfect shape for being close to or more than 100 years old. A couple show a small ink smudge on top or maybe an age spot here or there. This book spent almost its whole life in storage and the prints are bright and crisp. The colors are not faded at all.
