White Heron In Rain, Dramatic Japanese Woodblock Print. White Heron in Rain. Dramatic Japanese Woodblock Print of. Sheet measuring 10w x. Gakusui, Signed in characters with red chop seal at bottom right margin. Mats measure 15w x 20.5 h. Print is still lightly tipped (taped hinge) at top margin. Print is in excellent condition being very clean with slightly toned discoloration at edges. Strong dark black ink and bright white Heron body which is embossed or textured giving the appearance of actual feathers. Career as a woodblock artist began in 1949. Worked with the famed publisher, Watanabe. S best known for his prints of cranes and herons. This print is very dramatic. The contrast in colors and the beautifully embossed feathering makes a striking presentation. See additional photos below.
