As the title suggests, the book is a kimono design proposal for the Kyoto kimono industry, represented by Nisijin. These books were later taken over by Unsodo and others, but the publisher of this book is Bunkyudo, a long-established Kyoto bookshop older than Unsodo. The artists who wrote the books were not professional designers or art students, but professional Japanese painters.
