Each painting is accompanied by seasonal flowers related to that month, allowing the viewer to feel the changing of the seasons through the painting. “January: First Visit to Myogi Shrine, ” which depicts the hustle and bustle of New Year, shows the geisha “Hama” from Yanagibashi making a pilgrimage to Myogi Shrine, known as the god of prosperous business. The lively and colorful New Year atmosphere is conveyed from the temple grounds bustling with people visiting for the first time of the year and the figure of “Hama” in a gorgeous kimono.
