This is a beautiful specimen of a pre-war Hiroshi Yoshida print. It appears to be the November 1928 edition of the 1926 image, as published in the Enthronement Edition: The Japan Advertiser. “Himeji Castle-Morning, ” the image comes from the series Sakura hachidai (Eight Views of Cherry Blossoms). Signed in sumi ink, Yoshida, with artist’s seal Hiroshi and signature Yoshida. Date, indicating November 1928, and the title Himejijo. The title, Yu , on the lower left margin. One small light watermark at top right (see photo). A small inclusion at lower mid left looks like a foreign object, but it appears to be original to the handmade paper.
