On offer, we have a woodblock by Haku Maki. 75-62 San Mon Ban (Melon) has the artist’s stamp with pencil signed name, title and number 299/302. This small still life is full of detail including a pale yellow stem. Made in 1975, Maki produced a number of variations of the melon theme in his career. This measures 6″ X 6″ with the image 4″ X 4″. It is mounted at the top with tape on a 7 7/8″ X 7″ paper. This print was the 62nd design in the year of 1975, therefore part of the title is 75-62. This was a system he used until the 1980’s when he refined his numbering system. We believe this in excellent vintage condition. The print is bright, bold, clean and clear. There are faint pencil marks under the signature. It has been handled and has some light wrinkles. The plain paper mounting has Haku Maki written on both sides, but not by the artist. This is from my friend who collects everything and is starting to part with a few of his treasures.
