Artist: Toshi Yoshida Title. Benkei Bridge Date of Original: 1941 – later edition printed from older woodblocks not necessarily original woodblocks Technique: Hand-printed Woodblock Print (Later Edition) Print Quality: Excellent Condition: Excellent Image Size: 24.1 × 17.1 cm approx. 9.5″ × 6.75″ Framed: Yes (Lovely Koa Frame included). Framed print is 11 1/2 by 15 inches. This is a beautifully rendered later edition of Benkei Bridge by Toshi Yoshida, a master of Japanese shin-hanga prints. Originally designed in 1941, this piece features two lovely women conversing at the entrance to the bridge while citizens of all ages are seen crossing the bridge behind them. Printed with careful attention to detail and striking color, this later edition features a hand-written title “Benkei Bridge” in the lower left and the artist’s signature “Toshi Yoshida” in the lower right. The print title and date are covered by the framing but the framer has included a xerox of the print showing the full margins which reveal this information. Note that this framed print reflected the camera during our photography. The resulting area on the left side of the print may look darker than the original. This print is beautifully framed with Hawaiian koa wood. Frame may show minor wear.
