


This is a calligraphy model by Hasegawa Myotei, published in 1707 (the 4th year of the Hoei era). It is entirely rendered using highly skilled woodblock prints. The calligraphy culture by and for women that flourished in the mid-Edo period was known as “Nyohitsu” and Hasegawa Myotei was one of its most popular female calligraphers. She was a rare calligrapher who pursued the beauty of character proportions (living characters) to the utmost. This is a very old item, so there are various damages foxing, stains, wrinkles, scuffs, folds, scuff marks, foxing, insect bites, writing, etc. Please refer to the photos carefully before purchasing. The size is approximately 26.8 cm long and 18.5 cm wide. Please allow for slight inaccuracies as these measurements are taken by an amateur.
