Ohara Koson was famous as a master of kacho-e (bird and flower designs). He went by three different titles Ohara Hoson, Ohara Shoson, and Ohara Koson over his career. His works are held in several museums including the British Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Harvard Art Museum, the Chazen Museum of Art, the Rijksmuseum, the Museum of New Zealand, and many more. In its original early minimalist art frame size is approximately 7 1/2″ x 10″ with the image size being approximately 4 1/2″ x 7″. Condition is very good for its age, circa 1926, the frame has a few small nicks and also is in good shape (see pictures).
