Artist: Urushibara Mokuchu (Yoshijiro Urushihara). Title: Horse (Rearing / Turning Horse). Medium: Traditional Japanese woodblock print (mokuhanga). Style: Sumi-e inspired ink woodblock. Signature/Seal: Red artist seal (hanko) + signature in lower right. Subject: Stylized horse in dynamic motion. Offered here is an original vintage woodblock print by Urushibara Mokuchu, one of the most respected Japanese printmakers of the early 20th century. Best known for his collaborations with European artists and his mastery of traditional Japanese printing techniques, Mokuchu created a series of expressive horse prints during the 1920s-1930s. This piece depicts a turning horse, captured in flowing sumi-ink lines that highlight the artist’s skill in combining minimalism with bold, rhythmic brushwork. The print includes Mokuchu’s red artist seal and a signature, consistent with his authenticated works. The imagery is powerful, elegant, and highly collectible – a strong example of Japanese modernist woodblock art. Good vintage condition for its age. Some edge wear and toning from age (see photos). A small portion of old mounting tape visible at the top edge. No major rips or tears. Image area remains strong and displays beautifully. Please review all photos for details.
