Antique Katsushika Hokusai Japanese Woodblock Print Ehon Sumidagawa Framed
This is an antique Japanese woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai, from the illustrated book. Ehon Sumidagawa Ryogan Ichiran. Framed behind glass in a black frame with a wide neutral mat. The composition extends across joined sheets in a long horizontal format and depicts a lively riverside scene with numerous figures, buildings, boats, and calligraphic text, all handled with the narrative detail and flowing design associated with Hokusai’s work from this series. The scene has strong visual interest throughout, with activity unfolding across the waterfront and architecture carrying the eye from one section of the composition to the next. The print has a very appealing panoramic format and presents well as a framed example of Japanese Edo-period printed work. The overall framed dimensions are approximately 23.5 inches wide, 13.5 inches high, and 1.0 inch deep, while the visible image measures about 17.25 inches wide by 8.75 inches high. Please review the photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the item description.
