Shokei Yamada Torii in Snow Original Hand Finished Woodblock Print. An attractive woodblock print by Shokei Yamada (Yoshinari). A beautiful work titled’ Torii in Snow’ dating to around 1890. Appears to be a vintage traditional woodblock print on washi paper. But the snow appears to be painted on top of the image. We havent tried removing it from the frame, so mounting technique is unknown. But there appears to be a creasing in the paper on the top border. Suggesting it is loose in the frame, but we cant be sure. With a pair of pin holes on the right side suggesting it was mounted. Or perhaps bound in a book previously. The print measures approximately 32 x 24 cm’s. And the frame measures 46.6 x 36.6 cm’s. The work is in good condition, no obvious fading of colours. Paper is yellowed with age and with foxing visible around the edge. And pinholes on the right margin as shown. Frame is in good general condition with some cosmetic damage to the paint.
