The Kiso River at Inuyama presents one of central Japan’s most celebrated landscapes, where historic Inuyama Castle rises gracefully atop a hill overlooking the tranquil river. As evening falls, birds wheel across the violet sky while a solitary boat glides quietly along the water, creating a scene of remarkable serenity. The textured rocky shoreline in the foreground echoes the wooded hills beyond, adding depth and balance to the composition. This print is a later edition of the New Eight Views of Japan, published by the Ukiyo-e Print Publishing Association. He went on to become the foremost master of the Shin-hanga movement, producing more than 600 landscape prints over a career spanning nearly four decades.
