This is a beautiful Antique Japanese woodblock print. It is beautifully framed and is in great overall condition. It is genuine original mid 1800s Edo period. Sadahide Utagawa’s’Chushingura’ ukiyo-e series, published in 1848 by Fukugawado, holds considerable historical and artistic importance. The’Chushingura’ theme is based on the kabuki adaptation of real events from 1701 to 1703 involving the forty-seven ronin. These masterless samurai avenged the death of their lord and subsequently accepted the sentence of seppuku in accordance with samurai law. The story of loyalty, duty, and honor has remained deeply rooted in Japanese culture and continues to resonate to the present day.
