Original Japanese illustrated educational sheet featuring twelve panels of insects, reptiles, amphibians, and other animals, including butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, a snake, turtle, lizard, grasshopper, crab, and frogs. Accompanying handwritten collector’s notes identify the print as Sheet No. 9 from the Yochien-yo Kirigami series, dated Meiji 24 (1891), and attribute publication to Fukuda Kumajiro of Tokyo. This information has not been independently verified although a sheet from the same series appears to be held in the Kumon Children’s Ukiyo-e Museum collection. Approximately 9 x 13 1/2 inches overall as mounted. The original print is mounted to a larger sheet of paper/card stock. Antique condition with toning, scattered staining and soiling, creasing, and other age-related wear. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition and details.
