The artist’s signature cartouche appears along the right edge. This is an original period impression, not a modern reproduction. The print is lightly hinged into a neutral mat; total size including mat is approximately 15″ x 20″. Image area is about 9 1/2″ x 14″. Condition: Colors are strong and vibrant with good registration. This came from a Pittsburgh gallery collection that labeled it Antique Japanese original woodblock print by Kuni-chika, circa 1878. A fine example of Kunichika’s late Edo/early Meiji kabuki work and a great addition to any Japanese woodblock or Asian art collection.
