An original antique ukiyo-e Japanese woodblock print by the prominent artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The print depicts a female Kabuki Actor dressed in a red, blue, and black striped kimono, kneeling in front of a large structure in the background. The title in Japanese is. Translation to english is likely Kabuki Actor. It is signed in the bottom right corner and also includes an insignia over the shoulder of the actor. The woodblock print dates back to circa 1848. Overall dimensions of the frame are approximately 10” x 14”. Dimensions of the image are approximately 9” x 13”. Taining and small creases throughout. Utagawa Kuniyoshi was one of the last great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting. He was a member of the Utagawa school.
